TEXT: PROVERBS 12: 27
“The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious†(Proverbs 12: 27).
Philip Stanhope counsels: “Know the value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, no procrastination; never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.†What a wise counsel to youths! Laziness, some say, is a disease only the victim can cure. A lazy youth is unproductive and unprogressive. He always looks for quick solutions to problems, such as examination malpractice to make up for his unpreparedness. Are you lazy? Beloved of God, eschew laziness and escape failure. Attend your school lessons regularly and punctually; be serious with your studies. Do your assignments and projects, and submit promptly. Prepare for your tests and examinations on time, and you will make excellent results that can earn you a full scholarship in an institution of higher learning in your country or abroad. A lazy youth will end up in poverty and regret for failing to do things when necessary. Laziness is a gateway to social vices. However, God can help you out. Give your life to Christ if you have not, and you will be empowered.
Challenge: Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Prayer: Deliver me Lord from the yoke of laziness.
Quote: Laziness is a gateway to social vices.
