DAILY DEVOTIONS: Jul 14
Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight.
- Luke 10:33
In this familiar parable, others also came across the person who had been robbed and beaten. Others also saw the injured one but remained on the opposite side of the road and went on their way. Only one saw a person in need, crossed to the other side to the place of suffering, bandaged the wounds of a stranger and gave of their reserves of time and resources for full healing.
So what is Jesus’ message here? I believe Jesus is telling us that love is responding with grace to the unexpected. That love is seeing the one right in front of us. That love is crossing over to the place of need.
