Joel Osteen Today’s Word: Everything You Need
Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 6:14, TLB – But to do this, you will need the strong belt of truth and the breastplate of God’s approval.
Today’s Word: Sometimes the reason people don’t give you what you think you need in a relationship is because they didn’t see it modeled growing up. If they didn’t see family members giving love and approval and expressing their feelings, they don’t have it to give. If you’re trying to get it from them, you’re going to be frustrated. Why don’t you let them off the hook and go to God for what they can’t give? Here’s the key: God has everything you need. When you learn the principle to not rely on people but rely on Him for your approval, value, and encouragement, you won’t live stressed out because somebody is not giving you what you expect.
God didn’t base the plan for your life upon other people. If you only look to others, when they fall short, you’re going to be resentful and bitter. Only God can give you self-worth and a sense of well-being. The right attitude is, “Nobody owes me anything. God alone has everything I need.”
Prayer for Today: Father, thank You that You made me to be complete and content in You alone. Help me to realize when I’m looking to others to give me what only You can give and to let them off the hook. I believe and declare that I find everything I need in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
