TOPIC: Deal With Your Character Flaws (II) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 20 February 2019)

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 14; Matthew 26:51-75

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 10:6-11

MEMORY VERSE: “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” – Romans 15:4

The MESSAGE:

The Bible is filled with portraits of personalities whose lives were dented by character flaws and mistakes. Adam, the first man, was a blame shifter who could not resist peer pressure. Eve, the first woman, couldn’t control her appetite (Genesis 3:6) and became the first victim of eating disorder. Cain, the first born human being, murdered his brother (Genesis 4:8). Noah, the last righteous man on earth at the time got drunk and slept in the nude (Genesis 9:20-21). Jacob was a pathological deceiver. Moses the humblest man on the face of the earth (Numbers 12:13) had a serious problem with his temper (Exodus 32:19; Numbers 20:11).

1 Corinthians 10:6, part of our Fire Scripture for today says, “Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.” The Lord wants us to learn from the damage anger did to Moses’ destiny, sexual loosness did to Reuben’s life, deception did to Jacob’s life. We are not to lust after evil things as they lusted. Gehazi’s undoing was covetousness; don’t give it a place in your life. Achan’s undoing was theft; steer clear of it. The Bible also warns us not to commit idolatry as Aaron and Israelites did in the wilderness and incurred the wrath of God. We are not to engage in complaining and murmuring as some did in the wilderness and God sent fiery serpents to them. All these examples are for our learning. The people involved did not deal with their flaws and that is why they faced terrible consequences.
