THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT- I
TEXT: GALATIANS 5:22
BIBLE TEXT:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith†(Galatians 5:22).
The Amplified version of the Bible puts it lucidly that the fruit of the Spirit consists of the character traits of those who have the Holy Spirit in them. It defines Love as “unselfish concern for others,†which is at variance with lust. What sinner youths exhibit in place of love is lust. Joy which streams from one’s relationship with the Prince of Peace and a deep assurance that Jesus is always in control of every situation- even the storms of life. Longsuffering is another word for Patience -not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting; forbearance. Gentleness is described as the quality of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered, friendly, generous, and considerate. Goodness is the quality of being good, while Faith is the complete trust or confidence in God expected of all God’s children. Do you possess all these attributes? If you don’t, you have to go back to Calvary and ask Jesus to fill you with them. The fruit of the Spirit is the hallmark of saints.
