Our fervent devotions to God can be based upon youthful energy or strong displays of willpower, but what happens when you are no longer feeling young or full of strength? The Psalms give those who feel powerless great hope, for that is when God Himself becomes their strength. The graduation from willpower to surrender is a glorious moment, but it usually takes a lot of time and quite a bit of wearing out before we actually relinquish our control to the God who loves us and has our final destination in mind.
