TOPIC: Beware of False Prophets
Read: Matthew 7:15-20
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Memorise: 1 Corinthians 12:3
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

It is not in doubt that false prophets have put Christianity in a bad light to unbelievers. This is because they go about using the name of the Lord to commit fraud and all other atrocities, therefore, we are not wrong to call them agents of the devil. False prophets are deceptive: you have to know the word of God (the truth) to decipher their teachings.
False prophets speak false prophecies and give false teachings and visions, they are full of immorality and do all that God is against. They also lie to manipulate their victims. Any prophet or pastor teaching against Biblical doctrines is a false prophet.
As a child of God, it is your duty to know when a so-called man of God is truly one. This is the reason why God has given His children a discerning spirit. The only way to avoid being a victim of false prophets is to be conversant with the Scriptures such that no false prophet can sway you.
KEY POINT:
Study the word of God to know the truth.
HYMN 18 – When We Walk With The Lord
When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey
But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows
And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
