1 Samuel 17:22-23 & 26
David … ran to the battle lines and greeted his brothers. As he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
Author1 PhotoDavid had a different revelation about God and the people of God that caused him to maintain a different attitude and response to Goliath’s threat. David did not see the Israelite army as just another army or like every other army around. Instead, he saw them for who they truly were – the army of the living God! He knew that they were special and different because of the covenant God had with them. When we receive the revelation of who we are by virtue of God’s covenant with us by the sacrifice of Christ, there are certain things that we will not accept and tolerate in our lives. Rather, we will arise and confront them, manifesting Christ’s victory over them.
We are Christ’s body on the earth right now. We are His flesh and bones, Eph.5:30. Jesus assured us that He would build us, His church, and that the gates of hell would not prevail against us. He has given us the keys of the kingdom of Heaven so that we can ensure that only what is permitted in Heaven is permitted here and whatever is not permitted in Heaven is unpermitted in our lives, Matt.16:18-19. We bear the name and authority of Jesus, we have the presence and power of the Holy Spirit and we have battalions and legions of God’s angels at our disposal. As God’s children, we cannot be intimidated and stopped by any threat against us because we know who we are and we know whose we are. We know who is with us and what we have in Him. We will overcome every threat and challenge that comes our way, both individually and corporately as God’s people.
FAITH DECLARATION: The body of Christ is unstoppable! Jesus is building us and the gates of hell cannot prevail against us.
