A PURE HEART
TEXT: MATTHEW 5: 8
BIBLE TEXT:
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God†(Matthew 5: 8).
Jane’s parents were expecting some visitors and the family wanted her to do a thorough clean-up of the house before the arrival of the guests. “Jane, please make sure everywhere in the house is clean,†her father reminded. If Jane’s family would do everything possible to keep their house clean because of human visitors, how much more should we keep our hearts clean for Christ, the King of kings to dwell in! Purity of heart is the most important qualification for entry into heaven. Jesus did not mince words, as He identified it as a condition for seeing God. Anyone who honestly wants to go to heaven must of necessity pray for heart purity. A theologian said that the word ‘pure’ in the Greek, ‘katharos’ means to be clean, blameless, and unstained by guilt. The Billy Graham Evangelical Association expands the subject matter thus, “Being pure in conduct also includes honesty and integrity in dealing with our fellowmen. A Christian should be known in his neighborhood or place of business as an honest person- a person who can be trusted.â€
Challenge: Seek heart purity.
Prayer: Dear Lord, purify my heart and grant that I see you in eternity.
Quote: Pray for heart purity.
