THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT- II
TEXT: GALATIANS 5: 23
BIBLE TEXT:
“Gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law” (Galatians 5: 23).
Today’s teaching is a continuation of yesterday’s teaching on the fruit of the Spirit. Without the fruit your Christianity is doubtful. So pay attention as we move on. Gentleness is generally described as the attribute of being kind, or mild-mannered. Gentleness is a character that has become very scarce in the present generation. Society tells us to be assertive. Some people would tell you clearly that if you are gentle, others would take advantage of you, cheat and trample upon you. The world system teaches people to be brutal and unkind. However, it is expected of every genuine Christian to be gentle. Self-Control: as the word implies, is the ability to control one’s emotions, appetite and desires. The Christian youth who does not have self-control would never be able to live a consistent Christian life. This quality is always needed to resist temptations and maintain a holy walk with God. Agents of Satan or even your flesh could make sinful demand of you. Self-control would enable you to say, “No!” to sinful suggestions.
